Preparation:

• Alcohol wipe
• Sterile 2 x 2 gauze pad
• New needle and syringe
• Cotton ball

Administration Sites:

• Hip
• Upper arm (depending on muscle size)
• Buttocks

Procedure:

1. Confirm correct medication and dosage.
2. Thoroughly wash and dry hands.
3. Locate and clean injection site with alcohol wipe.
4. Remove needle cap.
5. Hold muscle around the site.
6. Insert needle straight into muscle at a 90-degree angle.

9. Apply pressure with cotton ball.
